“Dare
to Lead into the 21st Century”
To climb to new heights,
HR leaders in the public sector need to take a long hard look in
the mirror, redefine themselves, their capabilities, and their role.
They need to learn that the leadership style that served them so
well in their move up the HR management ranks, will no longer work
to meet today’s. Public sector leaders need to set the standards
for all industry leaders. Given the changes in the government’s
role in bailing out the private sector, HR leaders need to learn
how not to repeat the errors of the past.
This will be a lively, interactive session of self-examination,
discovering best practices, discussions with table-mates and engaging
in a model for building a positive future. The session will end
with practical and powerful steps the participants will implement
to not only take themselves to “New Heights,” but also
engage their work units. You will leave with excitement to put your
plans into action.
The session is grounded in solid research on actual
HR leaders, positive psychology, chaos theory, and examples from
both the private and public sectors. A model will be presented that
reflects the times and the need for building a collaborative future
(similar to the steps President Elect Obama is taking). To climb
to new heights, we need to look up, leverage strengths and differences,
pool dwindling resources, do things in different ways. It is the
role of the HR leaders of the 21st century to set the tone, take
charge and “Dare to Lead.”
